Red Sea snorkelling and diving...

sea life

The Red sea holds some of the best diving in the world, its warm water most of the year and has a all year promising visibility. Here you can find a swarming aquatic life and enjoy the wonders from the surface or diving into the blue.

Blue Hole

The Blue Hole is the most famous diving sites in Dahab and one of the most famous diving sites in the world. It is a 130m deep hole into the reef. The dive location it self is not really the hole, but the way to the hole. You start off in a tunnel known as the bells because of the sound the divers make as they bang their tanks against the wall of the tunnel. The tunnel ends at 26 meters and leads you to the wall side surrounded by open water. This is a spectacular sight for all divers beyond entry level with great visibility and swarming sea life. Many technical divers attempt to go through the 'arch' which is a hole in the wall between the Blue Hole and the reef wall. It is located at 52 meters depth which is beyond the level of recreational diving (40m). There are plenty of restaurants on shore and it has a very relaxing atmosphere.

sea lifeThe Canyon

The Canyon is a dive site that is good for snorkellers as well. It is rich in aquatic life and is fairly shallow at most points. The Canyon itself is a crack at the bottom that goes down to about 30 meters, it has some fish life, but it's most famous for being a safe deep dive with lots of nice sights. In The Canyon there are two exits: one is called the fish bowl, which is temporarily closed due to restoration of the fish life; the other is a tunnel that goes down to about 50 meters and exceeds the limit of recreational diving.

The Islands

The Islands is probably one of the best snorkelling places in Dahab, and a great dive spot. It consist of 3 underwater islands made up by corals. Most of the coral are between three to ten meters below sea level and can easily be seen snorkelling. You can go there by taxi or a 20 minute walk; it's a very nice place to relax and is also close to the lagoon with is famous for wind surfers and kite surfers.
