St. Catherine Monastery
At the foot of Mount Sinai lies the Monastery of St.Catherine. The official name for the Monastery is "The sacred and imperial Monastery of the god–Trodden Mount of Sinai". The Monastery is Greek Orthodox and was built in the 6th century by Emperor Justinian between 527 and 565, it was built enclosing the chapel of the burning bush and the burning bush remains is said to be the original bush.

What can I say except I love St. Catherine Monastery and never tire from it no matter how many times I visit there. A must for all travellers, religious or not, you cannot dislike the beauty and tranquillity of the whole of St. Catherine but just don`t just visit the Monastery please go further and visit the town which is about 5 minutes drive from the monastery, it has good shops and restaurants and you will not have any hassles approaching or going into the shops !

Getting there...
We can transport you by micro bus to Saint Catherine where you can spend the morning looking around the Monastery. You can climb Mount Sinai with our guide to see the sunset and then return to Dahab, or stay over in lovely Bedouin Camp in Saint Catherine and return the following day.
Or you can leave Dahab approx 10pm; travel to Saint Catherine by micro bus, climb Mount Sinai
to see the sunrise and return to Dahab.
